i have a 2005 audi a6 3.2 quattro 120,000 miles

my timing chain gydes all screwed up and one tensioner and the dealer wants 5000 for the parts the consists of all the parts chains and ect. Thats a bit ridiculous. this shouldaf been a recall.

Now my question is if i buy a a engine from a 2007 a6 3.2 will it fit and hook up run right?

 

no body knows the difference between the 05 a6 engine and the 07 a6 engine there both 3.2

 

I believe the engine will fit and I do not think there are any changes between the years. You need to get the engine letter code and compare. I believe both cars use the BKH engine. If so you should be good to go.

You can probably get the parts for much less than $5000 but the engine has to come out to replace them, that is where the big expense comes in.

 

05 uses Vin G and 07i uses vin H the 5 digit on the vin what it does that mean. And when you seaarch the junk yards if you pus 05 pnly 05 06audi engines comes up if you put 07 07 and up comes up. Thats what makes me think it ddifferent. Or something different

 

i called the dealer they told me the diiference between othe 07 and 05 is the trans, same engine but there not sure if it will bolt up.

does anyone know how to decode the vin number what it means

THE DIFFENECE that the jink yaed says is the G om 05 and H on 07 what do they mean and the engine id our both bkh

 

K i got the new engine from a 07 the engine code is bkh but the intake manifolds our slighty different so i am right now swapping over a little paini n the butt but no choice just wanted to inform other people whats the difference thank you guys for your help
