Default Need help taking apart key

One of the buttons on my key is broken and i need to get inside of my key to fix it. I can't figure out out to disassemble the key.. i have tried everything.

I have a 2001 A6 quattro with a switchblade-like key. Anyone know how to get into the key without breaking it?

on the back it has a wedged hole. get a small screwdriver or nail clipper and wedge it in there, and push the two halves apart.

The unit is composed of 2 parts, the key blade part (dumb), and the remote control part (with the electronics).
As indicated you can separate the 2 halves but you also need to remove the battery cover, again using a small blade screwdriver. A good spot for that is where the small ring sits.
Best of luck with your button. Hopefully it is just a sticky contact (You don't know where that fob has been! ).
