I have a 2000 A6 4.2.

About six months ago I upgrade from the stock 17's to some plus size 19's, and I installed some eibach springs to go with the koni shocks (and gave it a little negative camber), in hopes of better filling the 4.2's larger fender flares with a nice wide profile.

I'm happy with all the upgrades except for 1 visual detail, the wheels (19x8's) are about 3/4 of an inch inset from the flared fender edge. This really annoys me, especially when I see other A6 4.2's around town with + size wheels and perfectly flush, wide stance wheels which dont have this problem.

Are wheel spacers the answer? Honestly I dont know anything about them, which ones to get, what size, how much is reasonable, what brands, need to be make/model specific? etc etc.

Help!

On my old 2000 2.7t (RIP) I had wheel spacers in the front. I had those huge brake calipers and need the spacers just to make my wheels fit. I bought eibach spacers. I went with 5mm which was just what I needed to make the wheels fit. I experiecned no negative side effects. One thing I would make sure of is getting new bolts. Even if your only going a small 3-5mm spacer get bolts that are that much longer too. Thats why I went with eibach because with the spacers you got longer bolts.

I'll keep that in mind. Thanks Boundries. New bolts sounds like it makes sense, I'll be getting probably larger spacers than 5mm (to compensate for that almost 3/4' gap) so longer bolts it is.

Anyone else have feedback?

I'm running 15mm all the way around with no problems. I got them with longer bolts from ESC tuning.

get 15mm spacers with the longer bolts, make sure they are not flat and have the lip to sit on the hub and avoid vibration. GMPPerformance has some great made for Audi ones, a little pricey but worth the $ and come with the appropriate bolts.Next time you get wheels, remember to mind the offset #
