Keep your eyes open for them on the forums. I have seen them go for like 150 a pair with like 50k on them.

 

I've heard of rebuilding K03s into K04s. I did a search but couldn't find that thread or any DIY instructions on how to do it, or how much it would cost to get a professional to do it.

I'm still a NOOB and probably doing the search wrong.

 

I wouldn't recommend stockpiling parts "just in case" your turbos fail. You may be one of the lucky ones. I've seen lots of posts with OEM turbos still running at 110-160k miles.I'm at 102k with no problems (knock on wood).

QUESTION: I'm not eager to replace the turbos on my 2003, but I know it may be required someday. Frankly, $2700 for parts and about $2500-3000 for labor doesn't sound horrible. Not when I price a new(er) Audi. I know the rest of my car is sound and I love the look and ride.With the RS4 intakes and K04s, what kind of hp gains can I expect? I'm supposedly at 318hp now with a GIAC chip.

 

You relay can't do that. The K04's are much bigger, even the housing. Some have gone & done K03/04 hybrids, but IMHO, not worth the time, or money.

 

ppgoal - I understand what you're saying. And you're likely correct. I may get 160k out of my turbos. But as I've heard, eventually, they WILL go out. For instance, if I buy one this month, and then another next month or even a few months down the road, when my turbos go out, I'll have them right there to use. Then all I'd have to pay for is the $3k in labor to get it done.

What's the resource everyone uses to buyK04turbos here?
