Default New A6 2.7T owner!

Hey guys,

I recently bought a 2002 Audi A6 2.7L Turbo and I love the car!
Today when I was drivign back from work the "Check Engine" light turned on. This would always happen to me with my Land Rover. So I am basically followed around car-to-car with this ******* light. So I plugged my laptop into the car and started up VAG-COM and I found that my problem was with the Brake Boost Vaccum, it had a Mechanical Failure (P1479 the Audi code is 17887). So one most likely, one of the hoses are leaking, so I'll have to fix that.
When my car is on and I have it in park the fan gets extremely loud. When I turn off my A/C the fan gets silent. But when I turn it on again it gets really loud, louder than most cars. What could that be?

Also,
There is a slight ticking noise in my engine. On my Land Rover I had to go underneath the engine and fix one of the gauges. I do not think that is the problem with this car since the gauges look fine. It might be the timing belt, another belt, or the water pump. Since it's a turbo and I'm not too familiar with Audi engines, I do not want to mess with the belt. So if you know what the noise might be, please let me know!

Thanks guys!

/Robin

How many miles on your new car? Do you have any of the maintenance records? You may be due for a timing belt replacement if around 80 K miles...

Welcome to the Audi ownership. Really great cars to drive around, but not cheap to maintain... I guess you have to pay to play.

As for the AC noise, my car soundsloud when I turn on the AC. There are various posts about this topic, and it is normal for our cars. Just wait until auxilary water pump to turn on and your fan clutch to engage... It sounds like a jet engine taking off

And for the engine noise, it may be some sort of exhaust leak, but it is really hard for us to tell you what the noise is unless we hear it or know where specifically it is comming from.

Anyways, welcome. You got a great car.
