Default RE: new member and question

A leaky valve cover gasket will not introduce moisture into the cylinder. WTF?? Besides, these last a long time on the 2.8 A6 from my experience.

Moisture in the cylinder would be caused by a leaking head gasket, in which case coolant would be leaking into the cylinder. Was the car severly overheated? I even doubt this is it as I overheated a 2.8 and it is fine to this day, 40,000 miles later. I recommend considering the plugs and wires if they are older than 50,000 miles. Don't let the stealer, I mean dealer, rob you of $375!!! Moisture in the cylinder is extremely difficult to diagnose unless it is severe. No electronic tester will tell you this-- it will only tell you there is a misfire in a certain cylinder. Plugs and wires shoud cost you no more than $ 60 and are and easy installation. If the problem still exists, then I'd look at # 2 module-- also an easy, fairly inexpensive fix. Start with the cheap stuff first and rule out the ridiculous.

And pleeaaaase-- don't spray you plug wires with water-- that is a ridiculous suggestion.
