New Member Question: A4 Ultra Sport vs. A6 2.7T S-Line?
First off, I've been a lurker for quite some time and really love the back-and-forth/input of the members here. I apologize in advance if this is an ultra-repetitive post.
I am looking into buying my first Audi very shortly. I am a younger (mid-20's) professional with a fiancee, but notfamily as of yet, and have narrowed my choices to two:
1). 2005 Audi A4 B6 1.8T Ultra Sport
2). 2004Audi A6 2.7T S-Line
I can price match pretty closely between the two. Can anyone with experience witheither or both of these vehicles provide some input in regards to pros/cons of each not necessarily found in spec sheets? I love the aesthetic of the A4 Ultra Sport, but am a little concerned about its front-end lag and rear legroom. Any help is greatly appreciated!

front end lag?
I love the 2.7T but
if you're young and no family, consider the A4. Lighter, more nimble, sportier, looks good, probably better gas mileage, big enough and plenty of mods available too. Probably cheaper to run/maintain.
BTW, if it is an 05, wouldn't it be a 2.0?

Thanks for the input. Gas mileage is a growing concern as you can imagine. Mods for me ended with my now-decaying Civic, so not a factor.
I believe the B6 still had a 1.8T for their 2005 edition while the B7 rolled out the 2.0 for '05.
As for the lag, it is the most common complaint i've come across from those who have the A4 1.8T, especially from the CVT and fromthose who would still appreciate a little more acceleration 0-60.

I am pretty sure the 05 had the 2.9 200hp engine which is a much better and quicker engine...
Lots of fun and the chip woulf take it to 250+ I think

It's always sad to read about an owner who has to sell his two-seat sports car because of a family. Not saying the A4 won't fit a baby seat, but the A6 definitely has more rear seat and trunk space. If you keep cars for only a couple years, it's not an issue. If this turns out to be a long term commitment, it would be a shame to sell because of baby.
As you have read on this forum, there are a lot of mods available for the 2.7T - so you end up with a fairly fast full size car for very little investment.
Either way, you can't go wrong - it's an Audi.

I owned a 99 2.8 A4 5 speed and loved every minute of it. I sold it to get the bigger A6 and went with the 2004 2.7T 6 speed. Great car, good performance, lots of room. I recently sold that and got an 034.2 A6. If I wasn't married, had a wife who can't drive a manual and wasn't going to start a family I really, really wanted a 3.0 A4 Ultra Sport with a 6 speed.
