New owner a6 2.7t question
Hey you guys i would just like to say that yesturday I purchased an 02 audi a6 2.7t w/ 62.xxx for 10grand flat.
Well it's my first audi an I love it. Now I got some service records and an audi certified mechanic replaced my timing belt, waterpump, thermostat, and oil+filter, 200 miles previous (before I bought the car).
Now it seems that there is a knocking sound to the engine with idleing. I was think maybe the water pump? but it's brand new. I can post a video sometime later if that will help.
also. what the heck it up with all the audi bolts and special tools needed to do work. That sucks.
Thanks for any imput you guys.

For special tools most of what I needed to get is Metric ball head allen drivers and **** that gets into tight places.
The most important tools you will need is a DVD-ROM of the Bentley manual for your car, and a VAG-COM to pull codes. I saw the DVD cheap at www.ecstuning.com they also have a knock off dongle to use with older versions of the VAG. or an original can be purchased for $200 at www.ross-tech.com.
As for the knock I would get your head in there and determine where it's coming from.
Is it worse on cold start up? and warm start up?
Does it get worse as you drive?
Is it coming from the heads or the crank?
Is it more of a ticking or a knock?
You can take a long screw driver stick the plastic to your ear and place the end on the block as you go to hone in on it. They also make a mechanic's stethoscope cheap.

Yeah ive done the screwdrive stethoscope with my old jeep to find it was the fan clutch.
I'll do some investigating tomorrow. And call the old shop to see if they replace the TB tensioner also.
video wise, ive only got my cell phone video right now (sorry about the sound, you may have to turn it up):
