New User and Future Audi Owner
Hello everyone,
I am doing some research on what will hopefully be my future car, a '01 or '02 Audi A6 4.2. At the moment I'm trying to sell my '06 Suzuki GSXR 600 and once that is done I'll be on the hunt for my next ride. Since I'm new to Audis' I thought I would try joining this forum and expand my knowledge on these mechanical works of art.
So what should I look for when buying one? Are there any key features or problems to look out for? I know I'll be back on here once have more questions/concerns.

And if your curious, this is my bike I'm trying to sell/trade:

Lots of good information to be found here. If you are looking at the 4.2, be sure to spend some time in the A8 section as they share the same motor.

Transmission (weak point on the 4.2) gets better as year progresses
Tranny fluid change should be done earlier than 75k
Timing belt** very important
Check coolant make sure it's pink not the cheap green stuff
Get the car to a shop and have the car scanned for codes and tranny scanned for codes.
Find our what oil was used.
