NEWBIE key question
Just purchaed a 2003 A6 3.0. It has two switchblade remotes. Is it suppose to have 1 more key? What is the name of this key? Dealer is going to supply. Is it the valet key or is it named something else? Not an Audi dealer, so I want to make sure they get the correct key...thanks appreciate yout time....
There's supposed to be an emergency key as well - it's plastic and you can stick it in your wallet. The real thing that's essential isthe keycode on a little plastic tag that should be included as well, which will save you immense amounts of hassle getting replacements.
It's all in the manual.
It's all in the manual.
What happens if I don't have the key code? I haven't picked up the car yet...They said they have a manual for the car but I have not seen all the apperwork yet. Should I demand the key code or have them pay to get one?
My 2003 has two switchblade keys and the plastic emergency key. YES - demand that the dealer provide all OEM keys as well as the key codes. Why should you pay for them at a later date?

I believe you should have 2 switchblade keys, a valet/mechanics key (opens everything but the locked glove box methinks), the emergency plastic key you can stash in your wallet, and the plastic dealy with the barcode so you can get replacement keys in the future.
When you get the car flip open to the first few pages of the manual, it'll explain all they keys you should be getting.
