Default Noobie Here- Sound System issue

Hey Everyone,
Noobie here.
I'll try to follow the rules as best as I can.
A6 - 2010- 3.0T- Auto Transmission
I have an issue with the sound system not turning off properly.
It is not chronic, but is a pretty frequent problem.
When hitting the off button, it may or may not stay off.
It becomes more apparent when shutting it down for the night. In the morning, when starting, it comes on with the turn of the key. Shouldn't it stay off until I turn it on.??? In addition, it may come back on during the day moments after I shut it down.
It seems to have a mind of it's own.
The dealer acknowledges the problem and tried numerous times to remedy it, including replacing the tuner, or amp ??? No fix at all.
Any thoughts?

Not sure if I can bring up another issue in this post. If not, SORRY.
When coming to a slightly hard stop, the tranny frequently thumps into first gear. Not extreme, but pretty annoying. I've come to expect it, and it takes away from the pleasure of the car to a certain degree.
Dealership never notices it, or acknowledges it?
Thanks a lot
Steve

Welcome to the wonderful world of Audi electronics. They have a mind of their own. Or just crappy connections

2010 Isn't that still under warranty? Bring it in and get it serviced!!!!

You have to stay on top of these cars bring it in for every little thing and you'll be ahead of the game. Otherwise a variety of little problems will add up into 1 big annoying problem that is near impossible to diagnose and resolve.

A 2010 would be a bit new for this forum, but, there is a setting for power on volume for your radio. I bet this setting overrides the OFF setting. I bet you will have to wait for a bulletin to come out.

Good luck,

Bob

Thanks, I'll look for that. I assume the dealer might have dealt with that during multiple visits. I'll check myself. I get a lot of downcast looks from the service writer, indicating to me that he can't look me in the eye ????
Thanks for the idea.

Try various level settings for the auto volume (volume on start up if the volume was above that point) to see if that is the setting that the radio goes to when you restart the car. By bulletin, I meant that the dealer has no idea of how to fix the problem and will have to wait for Audi to 1 - acknowledge that there is an issue (not many people turn their radios off so that may take a while) and 2 - come up with a fix and publish it. He probably feels for you but is helpless.

I'll try that. I think you're right about the status of things.
Thanks

Also for testing, remember that it actually takes 90 minutes for the car to shut completely down.

Edit: after you turn off the ignition, that is.

Wow---a Space Odyssey XXXXX item!

3 warranty claims for the same issue or 4 claims in total --- conditions to have your favorite car replaced by the dealer with more favorite one.

How does it sound?

I'm at the dealer right now for check engine light, and gas cap recall.
I plan to come back in a week and just leave it here for 7-10 days while an Audi engineer gets involved.
After that, I'll determine if it's a drastic car replacement situation.
