sound system yo.
Okay, I have the base sound system in my A4, i believe the exact name is the symphony something lol. Point is, its not bose (unfortunately). Now, being a sound nerd, I'm thinking I'm going to buy and have a system installed, aftermarket...
I would like to keep the head unit stock though, as it looks nice with the rest of the car, and I dont want to make it look too custom. So my plan is, new speakers all around, and an amplifier. No subwoofer, no new head unit. The speakers, amp, and install should run me about $550, which sounds about right, if even a bit high (stupid components up front running up the bill).
Any of you guys done something like this? I just need some feedback, dont wanna toss any money away, every bit can go to another mod... ha
Thanks.

I had the bose setup in my 2001 Audi A4 quad and just installed pioneer speakers in the front and back,2 channel amp for the subwoofer. man oh man it did wonders for my sound, the factory bose speakers were blown, they would play fine low but soon as i turn them up,static and vibration, horrible.
I have a Pioneer AVH-P4200DVD double din in-dash head unit cost me 500.00 for it,340.00 for the install, speakers were about 130.00 for all 4.

yeah, shop around first, you can get most of the components cheap off the bay,i mean a wire harness, antenna adapter, dash install kit. ect... can be had at a fraction of the price.
There is no way around the price of installation,if you don't know how to do it yourself, then you have to pay up,its even more money on our cars, being the way the Germans setup their audio system
