Default Is this normal or...

I bought a 00 A6 2.7T, 6spd, less then a month ago. The car was leased to one owner and the mileage is 52,000. I noticed that while driving, when I touch the gas pedal, the shift stick will move back a bit, maybe 1/2 inch. This happens instantly as I touch the gas pedal. It happens only when I accelerate, it's not moving back and forth when I keep the gas pedal pressed, only when I accelerate. I didn't really notice it it in the first gear, but it happens in all following gears. The last manual tranny car I drove was long ago and I don't recall having it back then. BTW, the clutch appears normal, the car doesn't show any intentions to shut down in city traffic, for example on traffic lights when I just let the clutch go to start rolling without pressing the gas pedal. I can even start rolling in the 3rd gear without using the gas pedal. Any comments?
Thanks!

That's happened in every standard I've driven, no matter what make/model. It's most likely just some driveline movement. The tranny mount should give a little.

I recently bought a 2000 A6 6spd, 58K miles, my shifter moves just as you describe. It moves a little more than I have experienced on other makes, but it moves about the same as my '87 5000Q. I have wondered if it is related to the hydraulic clutch, other non Audi manuals that I have driven have been older non hydraulic clutches, and they moved some, but it was more with the movement of the car, and not with the on and off of the gas. Since I now have two Audi's that essentially behave the same (and know of at least one more ; ), I am currently not concerned. I am taking it in to have the TB, SB, WP, tensioners, etc done next week, so I will ask my mechanic his opinion.

I've a 2002 Manual 6 speed here in the UK. The gear leaver movement is normal. Virtually all the cars of all makes here in the Uk are manual (maybe its an historical thing?!) but that slight movement or tension is OK as long as its not associated with any unusual engine/transmission noises.
