Default now the hood latch

hey I am new to this site but it seems I know audi's inside and out even though I only owned one for 7 months! I recently did the water pump a month ago and it worked out great, I now have a coolant leak and can't open the hood do to the cable came undone it did work since the water pump replacement I changed the oil and jump started a buddy, so it seems it wiggled loose and now I have the front grill off and the air condenser out of the way and still have spent hours trying to fish a cable, pry bar, coat hanger to pull the release and no luck I have looked at many pic's and ill pick at it more tonight but jeez crank shaft censer, door locks, water pump, oil leak, cat rattle and now the latch! any one have this many problems bunched together like this

I have the same problem with my hood lach cable, it is not working and i already used pliers and pull hard and the entire cable and housing came loose and now i have 18" of cable inside the foot well. How can I unlach the hood????? Some mechanic told me that i will need to remove the bumper assembly and reach in from the underside to release it. Is this the only way???

I ended up buying a new latch the part that mounts to the radiator $70 ,and cut the old one with a hacksaw blade, it took about 1 hour to cut and install the new one
