Question (O) Dashboard Message

New member here looking for a bit of guidance: My 2001 A6 has just recently started showing this message--(O)-- between the tach and speedometer, and I unfortunately was not given an owner's manual when I purchased the car from a Volvo dealerhship. Does anyone know what this means? I was hoping to get a starting point regarding the issue without the $75 diagnosis fee. Thank you for all and any help you are able to provide.

brake lining warning light, either your brake pads are below spec or they came unplugged somehow and are tripping the light.

goodluck!

When that light goes on, you still have around 30-40% of your brake pad left, so don't get too worried; many, many thousands of miles you can get out of them yet (and you're going to be replacing the rotors too right? i mean why not ride them low?)

welcome to the forum. I think you made the right choice checking here first, I couldn't imagine paying 75$ to have someone tell me my brakes were low. Sounds like you will be getting your hands dirty with this car to cut its costs. I think we do haha

Default Got it...

That is almost a no-brainer now that I know the answer and the indicator light looking like it does. Thank you for everyone's help...now on to the repairs.

I ran mine for 12K after the pads warning light came on before replacing pads/rotors.

Ground the connection at the brake pad cable (just insert a jumper wire between the leads). The way it works is if it looses connection (when the pads are worn down) it will show the warning.
