O2 sensor location

Default O2 sensor location
The "Check Engine" light came on the other day. The ODB II handheld said it was an O2 sensor located as"Bank 1, Sensor 2". Does that mean it is the left sensor (sitting in the car)after the catalytic converter?
I have a 96 A6 2.8 V6 and have heard that anything after 1996 has 4 sensors.

Passenger's side is bank 1, bank 1 sensor 2 would be the passenger's side O2 after the cat.
