I have 2001 a6 2.7t 6 speed and my front end is smashed in. It sounds like its off time and like the valves are hitting the pistons on the passanger side and it dies when trying to idle. Would it be cheaper to get a new head or just fix the old one?

 

Can you define, "Smashed"? From a wreck or timing belt related failure? If its from a wreck, why not let your insurance company figure in the cost of the engine repairs with any other claim issue.
