Oil change?? 2002 A6 2.7T
Car has used full synthetic since it first left the dealership in 2002. Recently I reached 106,000 on it. She runs great. I took the car in to a repair shop for a typical oil change, or so I thought. The last oil change they used M1 full synthetic - 7.3 qts. All was good. This time I pick it up and they put in a synthetic blend and only showed 5 qts?? I checked the level when I got home and it looked correct.
Is there a problem here? Please help...

Good point, but the last invoice showed full synthetic 7.3 qts. This new one only showed 5 qts of b-oil? The guy said that it is not a problem and next time specify full synthetic. I thought I read somewhere that you can't use anything but full synthetic, no going back. Am I misinformed?

So main thing is to just make sure in the next couple weeks that they actually filled it with 7.3 qts by checking the level stick and get it changed again in 3000 miles.
Anyone have good detailed instructions on changing my own oil for the 2002 A6 2.7T? DIY type thing.

its extremely easy!!!! here is a step by step process for dummies
1. Open the Hood,
2. Jack the Front end up for clearance or drive it on a ramp [preferred] i only jacked up the driver side
3. Take off the under belly plastic. they only like 5 screws or pop screws [quarter turn type]
4. You can see everything now....the oil pan drain plug and the oil filter will be in broad view..
5. Get your oil pan/bucket place it under the drain.Unplug the Oil Pan Plug slowly.[clean it with some brake clean and put it aside]
6. Let the oil drain for a little bit
7. Go uncap the oil cap on the engine
8. Replug the Oil pan with the oil pan drain bolt
9. Go take the Oil Filter Off
10. Check to make sure the rubber gasket around the filter came off also
11. Get your new Oil filter and put some oil on the rubber gasket of the new filter
12. Put in the new Oil filter
Double check that the drain plug is in and the filter is in. wipe off all excess oil....so u can check if there is any leaks after u filled it with oil
13. Fill it with Oil [i dont know how much oil yours took but my 2.7T took 6.5 quart i didnt want to fill it to the max its probably 90% filled. gauging from the dip stick i;m about 1mm from max line.
14. Check the oil level every 1000 miles. my oil hasnt gone down for the last 1400miles. the color is still the golden oil.
15. After u finish filling it cap it.
16. Check the oil level now. if it looks good then leave it if its low add some more...
17. Let it run and check for any oil leakage.
18.If not put back the belly plastic and VOLIA! all done.
If im missing anything or im wrong on something please add your comment.

You nailed it on the head...I'm a "dummy" when it comes to cars. ;P But that needs to change...time to get a little dirty. Thanks for the instructions! I will be doing it next time. Thanks again!
HERE'S A TIP FOR BEGINNERS, INSTEAD OF DRAINING YOUR OIL FIRST, YOU MAY WANT TO TAKE THE OIL CAP OFF FIRST!!!
I'VE SEEN THIS HAPPEN BEFORE.
WHAT WOULD YOU IF YOU DRAINED ALL YOUR OIL OUT, CHANGED THE FILTER BUT WASN'T ABLE TO ADD OIL BECAUSE YOU COULDN'T TAKE THE CAP OFF?
KEEP THIS IN MIND WHEN CHANGING YOUR OIL.
