oil change
Just reading some older posts regarding oil changes. Most of you seem to reccomend changing the oil every 3-5k. My 2.7T has been run on Longlife oil. The service life for this oil acording to Audi UK is 18-20K. That to me seems scary long, even for special (expensive) oil. Its around £12.00 a litre ($20.00) at the specialist VAG supplier.
Anyway I've decided to change my oil now. its done 10k since the last change. I'm a new owner of this car. My car has now done 109,000 miles. It has a full Audi service history showing only 5 oil changes from new.
Do you guys have Longlife oil over there in the U.S. ?

RE: oil change
I have a 2001 A6 2.7t and I change my oil at 5k miles at most. Even though I do put synthetic in it.
Another suggestion: in cold weather go 5w30 and in warmer 10w40. I live in NY and switch to 5w30 in november and back to 10w40 around mid-march.

RE: oil change
Hello,
Just got a 2001 2.7T from a friend and change dthe oil yesterday. Can you tell me the capacity with a filter change? The owner's manual says 6 qts but it took about 7.5 qts to get up to the top mark on the dip stick.
Thanks very much.
