oil and filter change
Just did my first oil change on my 2000 audi a6 2.7 twin turbo I am unsure what kind of oil to use I look in the manual and it say regular 5-30 w oil that what the dealer say too but I went and got mobile 1 fully systemic it run me about $60 just for 7 qt and a filter. Don't know much about there cars with the oil I am running now how long can I go before changing it ? Is it best to use this oil then the regular oil? Also my car got 180000 miles on it too any help be great .

I use 5w-30 and your car doesn't have a dipstick for the trans. It's got "lifetime" fluid in it from audi although like anything else it wears out. I'm not going to say to flush the trans or not as people have mixed reviews on it but I'm going to change my trans fluid with Mobil ATF soon and I have 182K on my 2.7.

This is PDF file re tranny manufacturer ZF for Audi. It requires special fluid and VAG COM to monitor temp on changing the tranny fluid & filter.
Your A6 may not have the same tranny number but you get the point.

Angrywasp do you run regular oil or systemic I am not sure if the filter can go 7 to 8000 miles I got and stp filter from autozone it was the only kind they got. If there no dip stick for the tranny how do you know when it low ? Can the tranny fluid be change with out taken to a shop or the dealer can I do it at home ?

When I purchased my A6 in April 2005 the original owner used Mobil1 0w-40 and I believe it is a better viscosity for winter driving in MI. I have used 5w-40 for summer driving, but usually just run 0w-40 year round. Does it help? I don't know, but I am still running oem turbos at 188k and the car burns zip oil.

I use synthetic Mobil 1. As for knowing when the trans fluid is low I don't really have a good idea outside of using the portion of the fill procedure that has you remove the fill plug, add fluid (as necessary), and with the trans warm look for drips.
