Its a $500 ECU chip, and a $1000 reprogrammable chip (you can reprogram it back to stock), it reprograms your ECU togive you about 70 extra hp, I dont know about the gas mileage. The dealer won'tinstall it because it voids any warranty that you might have on the car, so you have to take it to a tuner shop to have it installed, but if you takethe carto thedealer to have work done toit and theyfind the chip, they might flash it and give you the stock hp, and you will lose $500, the $1000, you can bring it back down to stock and then take it to the deal, but they still might find it, but either way, warranty will be voided. These are 2 company that offer them.
70 extra hp might sound good, that's like the biggest pro about having a chip, but I think the cons out weights the pros.
PROS.
70 extra hp = Speed
CONS
Voids any warranty that you might have (about $1700-$2400 for aftermarket warranty)(Dealer Warranty)
Deal won't installed (if your a dealer person like me)
you might lose money $500-$1000 for the chipor $1700-$2400 for the warranties

If your Audi is already out of warranty, it won't matter.
ECU = engine control unit, aka the brain of the car
The chip increases the turbo pressure and probably modifies the timing and mixture to increase hp upwards of 70. I noticed no difference in gas mileage as long as I drove it normally (read conservatively). But there is a big temptation to hit the go-button and that reduces gas mileage fast. There is a noticeable increase in acceleration at about 3500 rpm with the chip and the GIAC removed the electronic governor of 133mph.
In the case of GIAC, I had to send out my ECU and receiveda replacement. I don't think it can be flashed back - at least I hope not.
