Default Oxygen Sensors/ Brake Module Sensor

I have a 2001 2.7 T that I just took in to get looked at and they told me I need:

1. Replace 2 Front Oxygen Sensors. For that they want $805
2. Install new electronic brake module= For that they want $730

I was wondering if anyone has experience with these repairs, is it possible to DIY? If not are those costs low, high, average?

Thanks for your help...

Price for the O2 sensors seems high. The are about $100 each and a real pain to get at but not enough to justify the price they are asking.

I'm guessing the brake thing they want to replace is the ABS module? The part is pricey but ridiculously simple to replace. Most folks just send it out to be rebuilt. The car will work just fine without it (though the brakes won't be ABS)

How do I figure out which of the 4 O2 sensors need to be replaced? And what are the best replacement O2 sensors to buy.

O2 sensors are considered wear items. A typical life expectancy of an o2 sensor is 100K miles or so. If your sensors are around that range, then they are probably on their way out. If you search the web, as well as have VAGcom, you can test them.

As for which ones to replace, the most critical ones are the 2 front sensors. They manage the fuel/air mixture. As for the rear ones, they are there to check the operation of catalytic converters. I would stick with Bosch prewired sensors. I have seen numerous people running into issues with universal fit ones as well as some off brand ones. Amazon is a pretty cheap place to get them.

The diagnostic codes are P1113 and P1131 which are the two front sensors. Would the first Bosch sensor listed on this website be the right part?

Yup. Amazon has them for $100.
