Default p1556 turbo pressure too low

Hi,

I have a problem with my 02 Audi A6 Avant 1.9TD.

My turbo cuts out (usually in 4th and 5th gear) - once it has cut out there is nothing to do but stop, turn off and on again. This seems to reset the problem.

A quick check and (to an untrained eye) all hoses seem attached and functioning. A quick check of the electrics shows a 17964 (P1556 intermittent) error which suggests turbo pressure is below minimal level (disired 1071mbar, actual 995mbar).

I would appreciate any helpful comments. Many thanks from a 1st time user of Audi and this forum

Default Sounds like a boost leak

I'm sorry I can't offer more than that, but I'm not at all familiar with that engine. The leak will be somewhere between the turbo and the inlet manifold. Check all the vacuum lines, diverter valve (I assume that engine uses one) and charge air lines from turbo to intercooler and intercooler to throttle body to manifold.

Good luck!

Default RE: Sounds like a boost leak

P 1556 = Turbocharger (TC) pressure - control limit not reached things to check ate TC wastegate regulating valve, intake leak, defective TC
