Parking break problem on a -96 A6 Avant
Got a 2.6l A6 Avant -96.
Works fine for the most part but i noticed that the left rear tire aint locking at all when i pull the parking break to full.
The other tires lock fine but not the rear left one. Checked some manuals but only thing i got from that is that it said that u couldnt repair the parking brake part in the rear. U needed a complete new one to replace. And i seriously dont wanna buy a new part if i can fix the old part just fine.
Anybody got any info on parking break problems ?? would really like some help with this since im not that proficient with repairing my audi.
If u need to know anything just ask and il answer to the best of my abilites..

The parking brake works on the two rear wheels only. it is either the cable or you need a new rear caliper. You have to crawn inder it and look to see if the cable is Ok after that you will have to begin taking it apart

err?
Sorry, its purely mechanical, and that means it can be misadjusted. Whether its because its broke (bad cable), or not, is up to debate. However, if its not used once in awhile, the little cam can bind and not self-adjust for pad wear... ie; misadjusted.

It is possible for one of the two rear parking brake cables to break. However, it is also possible for one of the rear caliper levers to become corroded and get stuck.
The parking brake cable should be disconnected from the lever to be sure that the lever is not stuck.
