Unhappy Passenger door won't open on 2000 A6 avant

Hello,

I've got my first audi (a 2000 A6 avant 2.5 TDI) 2-3 month ago.

10 days ago without any apparent reason the front passenger door got bad in some way. I can not unlock it with the central locking mechanism, and it won't open even if I pull the handle inside the door.

When tried with central locking, the small lock button comes up barely, does not go up the whole way, and looks as if it's stuck and can not go up.

When tried with the handle, this time the lock button goes up completely, but it goes down as soon as I release the handle.

I even tried to hold the button once it's up with a nipper, still no luck. As soon as I let it be it goes down completely.

Since I can not use the key with the passenger door, How can I open that door ? And when it's opened what would be the part to replace ?

It is kind of obvious that if I take the car to a dealer in Belgium, it's gonna be really pricey. So I'd really appreciate any help that you might offer.

Regards, Caglar

Edit :

The day before the door started to open as if there was no problem. Since I can open the door, it's easy to remove the panel and access the locking mechanism. Which part should I change or remove to avoid this problem to happen again? Is there a deadlock mechanism that I should get rid of ?

Regards, Caglar

Personally I'd look into replacing the door lock assembly:
$35.00 Right Front Door Lock Mechanism and Power Lock Actuator 99-05 Audi A6, 03-04 Audi RS6. Volkswagen

I hope this will do the trick for you.
Good luck.
