I'm still under warranty for a few more months. Why not get the dealer to fix things for free?

Else, why pay FOR a warranty?

I'm sorry if my post came across the wrong way.
The OP (original poster) didn't specify whether his/her car is under warranty or not.
Of course if the car is under warranty, anyone would be stupid not to take it to the dealer and put that warranty to work...
Conversely, if the car is out of warranty, I PERSONALLY (that was my point, didn't want to burst anyone's bubble) would not take it to the dealer for such an UNIMPORTANT (solely in my opinion) issue, especially knowing that they charge a diagnosis fee, and sport high labor hourly rates.
If I could be able to find the part and DIM(yself), fine. If not, I wouldn't worry to much for a feature designed (again, my sole opinion) for lazy people.

And again, I apologize if I offended in any shape or form someone with a different opinion. That's not my intention, or even a thought crossing my mind, as I didn't join this forum to insult/offend/mock fellow Audi owners.
Cheers.

I have the premium and cold weather package. Maybe its associated with a certain package?

Make sure the switch on the console is switched to the passenger side mirror.
I don't recall having my switch ever selected to passenger when reversing. I'll try it and see what happens.

Thanks

Well, I tried a number of different combinations to get the mirror to point down when reversing. Nothing seemed to do it. Is this something I need to setup through vag-com?

my 2000 a6 4.2 has the same issue. My mirror tilts down perfect, however, it will not return to settings when put in drive. I have the selector on passenger mirror, still nothing, moves just a tic. I am one to want every extra, no matter how insignificant, to work properly. I would love some help with this issue. Thank You all!

Did you ever manage to figure out what was wrong with the Homelink?

My bad for changing the topic.

My 1997 A6 Avant auto does it. Didn't know about the feature until my mom showed me how here 2005 mercedes did it by leaving the right passenger mirror button pressed in and it worked. I don't do it in the winter for fear of the ice and snow behind the mirror jamming it and breaking something though...

By the way, my right side mirror is turning brown and my mechanic said it's the road salt here in Canada and the replacement is 160$, just for the mirror part because it is slightly rounded mirror so you can see more. Does anybody know if there is an aftermarket replacement?

It sound like your mirror is heated if it turns brown. Here are links to the mirrors.
Heated Mirror: Audi A4 A6 A8 Right Passenger Mirror Glass w/Heat w/backing mount #MR03702HRSG | eBay
Mirror: AUDI A6 S6 PASSENGER CONVEX SIDE MIRROR 1994-1998 | eBay

You could install it yourself.

Hope this helps.
