Performance Upgrades Audi A6 3.0 Brakes
Was thinking about upgrading the brakes on my 2002 A6 3.0 Quattro. I had Akebono front pads put on a year ago without replacing the rotors.(Big mistake). Lots of vibration. Was wondering about getting some cross drilled rotors with different ceramic pads. If anyone can recommend an Audi Performance parts store where I can check what suspension upgrades are available (engine strut braces as well), it would be appreciated. Thanks very much.

The only reason that you should go with crossdrilled rotor is to save a bit of weight and wet braking performance. Other than that, blank rotors actually perform better and is more durable for track day application. If you want performance, then just invest in a good set of pads. In addition, you should really consider what you are planning to do with your car. In everyday application, race type pads, literally, will kill you. Race pads only acheive their braking performance once heated up to higher temperature range. They are worthless when cold.
With that said, I had good luck with Hawk HPS pads. Keep in mind though, these will generate more dust than say a set of ceramic pads.

Thanks for the heads up.
Thanks for the reply. I guess I'll stick with the standard (EBC,OEM) discs and maybe go with the EBC pads as well, although the Hawk performance pads look interesting. The 3.0 engine isn't exactly a pocket rocket either.
- Thanks again..

I said this before and agree with hxgaser...
IMO , you should stick to regular rotors, you most likely don't need cross-drilled, you won't feel braking perf increase and they warp easier and cause vibrations easier... I tried in the past and will not go back to cross drilled, especially because they are moe expensive... so you'll also save a lot of $$ with regular ones, and I would use that $ to buy SS brake lines and get race fluids. THAT will improve breaking performance... improve pedal feel and reduce fade
As for pads, I use Hawks HPS. They work great and low dust.
