Hi Guys,

Having had a second set of plates stolen yesterday, I have tried to fit replacements this morning:

I decided to buy some security screws and caps as the last set of plates were stuck on. As there were no holes in the front bumper of the A6, I started to drill a pilot hole for the self-tapping screw but have hit the aluminium plate that sits directly behind the front bumper plastic. Can anyone tell me if it is safe to drill through this piece of metal? I am pretty sure that it is just a safety component of the front bumper but I'd like to be sure before I put holes in it!

Also, on the A6 Avant, is there anything I should be aware of on the rear tailgate before I drill into that too?

I have a 2003 A6 Avant and have drilled and fitted plates to mine(originals stuck on) and didn't experiance any problems.
