Default Possible to roll back odometer on 2002 A6

I'm interested in purchasing a 2002 A6 and am concerned about odometer rollback. The wear on the seats and steering wheel conflict with the amount of miles put on the car.

Is it possible to roll back the odometer? I'm wondering if the car has an ECU from another A6 with lower mileage...

any advice would be appreciated.

Its definatly possible. The milage is only stored in the instrument cluster. So replaceing the cluster would result in milage being transfered. Have you pulled a carfax report? Or checked with your local dmv. Many times a milage discrepancy can be spotted thru those systems.

Have you done a carfax on this thing? One of the better things they do is a mileage consistency check. Worth the investment to run one on a car you're seriously considering. See www.carfax.com.

Its stored in different places in different car lines. Some even store it in multiple modules, but in your particular car and all audis its stored in the cluster. The 05 and new cars may store it differently thou.
