Does anyone have any idea what is causing my 1995 Audi A6's power locks to lock and unlock randomly on their own? I do not have remote locks on the car. I have to insert a key in the door keyway and turn the key to lock the doors. Lately the car will lock or unlock the doors all by itself. I know it must be something electrical, but I don't own a troubleshooting manual to look at. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

 

I would try unlplugging one of the switchs. Maybe one of those has failed and is sending an erronious signal to the module.

 

Sounds like you have a short or a component failing.

 

How old is your battery? When mine went out it opened windows and sunroof on its own free will.

Yep, the same thing happened to my mom's van when the battery shorted out. I'd say you are lucky that the only problem is the car unlocking/locking. My mom's gauges when haywire, windows rolled down, and it locked and unlocked over and over. It wouldn't start either.
