Default Power Mirrors, odd issue

I recently purchased a 2000 A6 2.7T Sedan, and of course it has a few more or less minor issues here and there that I'm working on

Already replaced one of the ignition control modules to fix a misfire problem, and now I'm working on the power mirrors. The switch that was in there would spin freely and not adjust the mirrors. The old switch is labeled "4B1959551 48 99"

The car does have power seats with memory.

I found a replacement switch, for 98-05 with memory function, listed as being a replacement for 4B1 959 551/4B1 959 565. When I got it I checked it and it's labeled "4B1959551 B 48 02". The main part # being the same, I installed the switch. The cable only goes in one way, so I know I haven't hooked it up backwards.

Now... my mirrors work... in reverse. The left hand position on the switch adjusts the right hand mirror, and vice versa. No, I didn't put the switch in the car backwards flipped around.

Any thoughts? According to everything I've been able to find this should be the correct part, so what the heck else would cause the mirrors to be backward like that?
