power steering still leaking
so we were able to find that its coming from the p/s pump (which is good) bc thats a lot cheaper then the p/s rack lol, anyways, does anyone know about how much this will be to replace if i bring it to the dealership? and is it a relatively quick fix...like can i walk over to the mall next door for like 2-3 hours and itll be done?

bc i was looking to see how much it would be total, i know how much the part is, and when i called the dealer they told me i would have to bring it in so they could look at it before they told me a price, and just for them to look at it i would have to pay $85, thats why im asking here to try and get a heads up on total cost

I just replaced the pump on my 2.7 - took me a little over four hours, having never done it before. You need to -
- Put the front carrier into the service position.
- Take the tension off the serpentine belt and then remove it.
- Remove the power steering pump pulley
- Take the air tubes off (on the twin turbo)
- Remove as much power steering fluid as possible
- remove the high pressure and low pressure tubes.
- mop up any mess!
- unbolt the pump from the engine (comes off with the carrier)
- unbolt the pump from the carrier.
- reverse to replace the new pump.
I got a reconditioned pump from RockAuto.com

The 1995 A6 2.8L Quattro has the power steering pump on top of the engine under the ignition coils.
Don't forget to flush the power steering fluid before replacing the pump.
Here is a link for flushing the power steering fluid: http://www.audipages.com/Tech_Articl...r/psflush.html
You should flush the fluid, before replacing any parts. You also would need the BentleyPublishers.com Audi shop manual CD, if you want to do your own repair.
