Problem with my 01 A6
Hello,
I have a 2001 A6 2.7T I changed the trans on it with the trans computer to an 2004 model, 4 months later my engine broke and it had to be replaced, after engine replacement the mechanic told me that the trans is bad, and it is not shifting right it starts at 3rd gear, (My A6 is automatic) so he said that we have to rebuild it and it was rebuilt but again with the same problem it is still starting in 3rd, and the trans shop said that the trans had some bad clutches or whatever and it was fixed, and they dont have anything to do with any trans computer issues, therefore we had to reprogram at the dealer but the dealer says that the computer is not accepting the code. so we thought that the computer is and we got another one, but still does the same thing, anybody have an idea on what is going on, the car is in repair for the last 2 years and am so frustrated. I need help. Please anyone???? Thanks

Your Mechanic obviously sucks.
Time to move on from there.
Start the car try to move it have all of the codes read with a vag-com.
It would help to have all of the info. At this point do not rely on your mechanic for info.
2 years he's going to BS you anyway,
Did they actually rebuild the trany?
Did the actually replace the TCM?
What did the dealer say about the problem?
Did the dealer give you any Diagnostic trouble codes?
Transmission fails in between blowing your engine and new engine being installed.
That's weird, Sounds like the mechanic is taking you for a ride.
I would say he didn't hook something up correctly or the gear selector is broken or not hooked up.
How did you get it to the dealer? or did you remove the TCM?
