I'm having problems with my indicators on my 2001 "Y" (uk Reg) Audi A6 2.4 V6 SE,
They seem to have a mind of thier own and some times they work sometimes they don't!

When I move the indicator stalk up or down I get the first flash and then it stops.
I have checked the fuses and they are ok.
The hazzards work ok and all the bulbs are working.

A friend of mine has said it could be the flasher relay unit, I have bought a new one but can't find where it is located!
Any one out there that can point me in the right area to find this relay unit?

Or has anyone experainced the same problem and can tell me exactly what is wrong?

Easy solution this one. Just had exactly the same thing go on mine on Saturday and got it fixed in 10 min. On the A6 the indicators are controlled by the 4 way flasher unit. The default when it fails is 4 way. This means that the indicator part of the unit continues to behave erratically but the 4 way works perfectly - for safety reasons. The dealership replaced the unit in 10 min and I was back on the road.

Found your note on the forum, and it sounds as if you had the same fault that my 2000 A6 has just developed. Good reply from 'streethawk', but did you resolve the indicator problem, and if so how?

Did you DIY the repair, or is it a dealer fix? I have found a number of niggly faults with the A6, and the handbook provides the standard 'See your Audi Technician', only to find that once you know where the component is, the fix is simple.

Would be interested in your response, I can't get over to my dealer for another week as I'm away all next week.
