Default Programming of 97 A6 remote (not switchblade)

Hi,

I used to have a 98 Jetta where it was really easy to program the remote control. I replaced the remotes once and it was a snap with the instructions from the VWVortex. The Audi remote is much more expensive, Audi of Alexandria quoted $90 today! Idon't know whether they also include the programming or whether they want me to pay big for that. (I think I know the answer)

In order to avoid that issue, does anyone have the instructions for the 97 A6? I would very much appreciate if you could post them for me.

Thanks you very much!

P.S.: I searched around quite a bit and could not find instructions available, I reviewed ebay but the remotes there seem to be used. I would like a new one...)

Default RE: Programming of 97 A6 remote (not switchblade)

O.K., I actually found the answer on Audiworld.com. They have a FAQ section that I happened on. So for future searchers I post the info here:

Program Remote forC4 Audi A6

From Technical Bulletin 96-95-05 "Central Locking, Radio-Controlled"

-In addition to transmitters (remotes), two vehicle keys are also needed for coding.
- Switch on ignition.
- Using second key, slowly lock vehicle at driver's side door lock, smoothly without jerking key in tumbler.
- Activate both transmitter (remote) buttons for at least 4 seconds.

-- The system should now be functional.

(For additional remotes...)

- Lock vehicle again at driver's side door lock, turn key slowly and smoothly in tumbler.
- Activate both buttons of second transmitter for at least 4 seconds.

(Continue for up to four transmitters)

-- When coding is completed, central locking is functional

I added the stuff in parenthesis. It works great now. I thought I was going to have to replace it. Just FYI for everyone. Thanks.
Good Luck to all!
