Default Purge Valve

I have a 1999 A6 with the dreaded P0445 fault code. In one of the forum topic it talks about checking the Purge Valve. Can anyone tell me where it is?

Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Hey, that's my thread on AW.

In any case, my local shop (Shine Racing Service) cleared the CEL and it hasn't returned. At some point this summer I'd like to change out some vacuum lines and the MAF, and now I'm thinking I may swap out the purge valve as preventive maintenance. Overkill? Probably.

its hard to get to but most likely not the valve itself but the vaccuum hose that runs to the valve control the hose is almost on the engine block which cause it to dry rot
it is some where near the coolant resevoure not too too difficult to fix but you will need a flash light and some flexible arms
