Default question about valve cover gaskets

I just bought a 2000 A6 2.7T that has 90K miles. Overall, the car was maintained fairly well - regular oil changes and typical service. I am getting ready to replace the valve cover gaskets on it as well asthe suction pump (which I'm pretty sure caused the vlave cover leak) and spark plugs.

While I have that much apart is there anything else I should consider replacing?

A "buyer's check" @ the local stealership revealed that my secondary air pump is weak?

Also, what is the general concensus on oil? @ 90K should I go synthetic or is there a certain weight/ viscosityI should go with?

Thanks for the input.

tou might also want to replace the cam chain tensioner gaskets. those are notorious for leaking.

Thanks for the info...any other items come to mind please let me know. This is not a job that I want to repeat if I can keep from it.

I've got the Bentley's manual on it's way so knowing where the rocker cover bolts are located will definately help.

Thanks again.

Do a search on www.audiworld.com for replacing camchain tensioner gaskets. They are notorious for leaking.
