Default Radiator Fan Control

I just purchased a 2006 Audi A6. I have a problem with the radiator fans. If the car is running both of the fans work constantly and once i shut the engine off they continue to run for another minute before they shot off. If the car is turned off and i just open a car door the fans start working and they work for couple of minutes before they shot off. Does anybody know what this could be. I am thinking that it is the fan control unit but i like to hear from you guys.

Isn't the car still in warranty?

The fans work after the engine is off for a minute?
Then they stop?
But if you open a door (any door) the fans are on again?

Is that what happens?

The fan run on for while after the engine is off on my '86 4kq.
I do not notice similar behavior on my '03 2.7.

No Warranty.
The fans work constantly while the engine is on (never turn off) and they work for a minute after the engine is turned off.
If i am out of the car and open the door both fans turn on and run for couple of minutes with the engine off before they shot off.

Is there any difference with AC/Heating "off" or "on".

It's normal to expect fans on with AC/Heating on.

There is a fan control switch located in front of the radiator - left side (passengers side).
There should be a relay as well ( have to look into diagrams).

Any codes BTW?

I purchased the fan control module and replaced it myself and everything is working fine know. Dealer wanted $400 for labor to replace the module. It only has four colored wires which i just spliced together (took me 20 minutes)and am proud to say, saved $400.
