Radio is stuck on "safe"

No cheap fix --
Look in the glove box or owners manual for the radio card.
Some folks think some dealers writes the code in the trunk sometimes so I'd look around a bit.
Also look under the hood - you might get lucky.
If you find it make a speedy trip to the local lottery office and play the first number you think of.

When I bought my 99 A6 back in June the radio was locked and after hearing about that on one of the forums I called Audi of America Customer relations. They registered me as the owner of the vehicle, asked for vin and radio serial number. Audi said it would take a few days to look up info but they called me back in less than 48hrs with the code.
