Hello,

Ever since I bought my 1998 A6 the radio has been in SAFE mode. I have the code, and have tried to input it. According to the manual, holding the FM2 and RDS buttons on the radio console will allow me to input the code. However, when I hold these two buttons, absolutely nothing happens. 1000 does not appear on the screen like the manual says it will. I've tried it without the key in the ignition and with the key in the ignition.

Am I doing something wrong? Help!

 

Its probably locked, hit the power button on the radio with the key out of the car and leave it on for about 1 hour. The radio will turn itself off, now you should be able to input the code.

 

That worked, and I am able to input codes now. Unfortunately the code that I had didn't work.[:@]
