Default rear brakepad changing

I tried to change brake pads in my '98 A6 2.4 FWD.. but was unsuccessful..
I removed the cylinder assembly by removing the two bolts.. but was unable to fix the new pads since i couldnt move the piston in, to get enough room for the new pads..
I believe it has to be turned clockwise to move it in.. pls correct me if im wrong... or can anyone tell me the procedure for changing??
thanks in advance...

regards
giri

I believe there is a special tool that is required to move the piston on the rear calipers.

I bought the above block at autozone. You have to grind the ears a little on the face that just about matches up. But make sure you "catch" the threads by pushing in when you're turning. I didn't "catch" them and spun the piston around about 10 times. Only takes about 3-4 turns to fully turn in the piston.

Good luck,
