Default changing the lip above the rear plate

Hi everyone, I have some serious corrosion on what I would describe as the lip above the rear license plate. It's the avant 2000 model. I' got in touch with a mechanic I know and he said he can remove the lip and repaint it but that means I'll be without a car for at least 3 days and from past experience I know it's not always easy to exactly match the paint. So I've been looking into other options and one is to get a replacement lip. My local dealership said they could give me one in silver - any opinions on that? I did think about trying to get it in dark plastic (similar to the allroad which I think looks OK) but they said audi don't make it. Anyway, any suggestions much appreciated.

I'm not sure chrome would suit it as there's no silver trim anywhere.

I know you can swap some a4 parts with the passat and octavia but would anyone know if the dimensions are the same for this?

Sorry, just had a look at related links and realised LIP is the wrong word. I'm talking about the detachable lead strip directly above the license plate.
