not trying to be a smart a$$, but is the little rear window lock button lit up on the drivers side window switch panel? if that's depressed and lit, that would cause the rear windows to not operate with the switches back there.

Try this it takes two people, have one person hold down the rear window lock out switch from the driver's door and have another person operate the switch that isn't working, if the windows go down you have a bad master window switch, happens all the time.

I have a 2000 2.7. I had the same problem. It was a bad master switch. Like auditech said, I could hold the button down and the back window switches would work. I was getting some warranty work down so I just added that to it. I think audi charged about $90 for the switch. Some guys say that they were able to take the switch out and clean the contacts off and it worked fine. Good luck.
