Default Remote not opening A6 Trunk

Hey guys,

I have an 04 2.7t S-line and I just bought a new key fob for it. I had only the valet key for it before. When I try opening the trunk with the button on the key fob it does not open. Using the fob to lock, unlock, and panic works. If I stick the key into the actual trunk lock I can lock and unlock the trunk manually. Anyone know what may the problem?

No, but let me know when you find out. I've had my A6 since 2005 and 137k miles and neither oem key fob will pop the trunk. Same thing as yours -- I can manually unlock. The push button on the inside of the driver door frame does not seem to work either.

On my Avant, if I press the unlock button twice, the tailgate is unlocked. It doesn't pop open though, which I guess is by design. The middle button seems to work on unlocking the tailgate as well. Could the problem you both are having be related to a trunk solenoid?

The manual said for trunk unlock you have to press and HOLD for more than ONE SECOND.
