Question Removing driver side mirror from casing on 2000 A6

On my 2000 A6 (Dark Blue) I am trying to replace the driver side mirror of which the seal around the mirror cracked and the heated fluid drained out. I have got my hands on another driver side mirror that is in good condition but it came off a silver color A6. I am trying to take out all the internal mirror components and put them in mine so I don't have to do any painting. I believe there has got to be a way to do this without damaging anything. Any one have any idea's?

It feels like the mirror is going to break but the mirror just poppes out. I found if you adjust the mirror completely to one direction helps to pry it out without damaging it. My tint also went in my car but i took off the mirror and cleaned out the electric tint fluid and saves myself buying a new mirror (athough now it does not tint itself).
