Removing top oil pan section!
Hi,
98 A6 2.8 30v AHA - my engine is leaking oil all over the bottom. I narrowed it down to the top sump pan section it has a liquid (RTV) gasket and it looks blown. The oil seems to be coming out all around below it. So I'm going to take it down and reseal.
I have the bumper and core support off already, engine hoist is ready in position as well =) Have just a few questions:
1) is it okay if the car is no horizontal on the ground when I lift the engine? I have it on ramps, so rear is lower then the front. I have the engine leveler - is it okay to lift in that position or I should raise the back of the vehicle as well?
2) Is there anything esle to replace in there? I've already done all regular stuff - timing belt, 3 front seals, valve cover gaskets and such. Right now I'll also replace radiator hoses because they are too soft, from spilling oil probably. What esle should I look for?
Thanks for any input.
