The last time I had a TB done (including waterpump, tensioners, serpentine, fluid etc) the blauparts kit was about $400 and it was 6 shop hours. My indie now charges $78/hr. The other stuff sounds like under a grand parts and labor. Unfortunately, turbos are a big job and will set up back $3-4k for the whole job and oem K03s. Good luck.

Do you believe in coincidences? If you do, then go ahead and replace the motor. If you don't, then be sure they have not misdiagnosed your car. The reason I say this is because you mentioned that it was the first cold day of the year.

I had this happen on the way to work yesterday (4 degrees out). Clouds of white smoke whenever I got on the gas. I thought it was a turbo or head gasket, but after about six hours of research learned of the problem with the PCV valve freezing.

Tried the car again, after the first mile or so no more smoke and all of my power was back. This was after the warmed up car had been parked for about 7 hours, so it was probably warm enough under the hood that it thawed out the valve.

That would also explain all of your suddenly leaking gaskets. When the PCV freezes, and you start smoking, what's happening is that the oil is being forced past the gaskets due to high pressure in the crank case. Relieve that pressure by fixing the valve, and if you haven't actually damaged the gaskets they should be fine.

I've read that you can verify this condition by removing the oil fill cap and seeing if there is a lot of pressure released when you do it. I've also read about oil shooting out of the dipstick hole when the stick is removed. Just make sure that the car is showing your symptoms when you do this test.

Anyway, I would make 100% certain that they have the correct diagnosis before I agreed to the repairs.

Best of luck to you....
