Replaced Cluster, Car starts then stops
I have a 2003 Audi A6, 3.0. Had a problem with the Cluster because Odometer was not lit. I ordered a replacement cluster from Ebay and put it in. It lit up wonderfully, but when I tried to start the car, it would die immediately. When I put the old one back in, it runs fine. I was told to unhook my battery overnight so it would reset the computer......I tried that and still the same issue. Is there any way to reset the computer without taking the car to the dealer to have the cluster flashed or loaded.......Please help if you can. My yah oo email is freddie_g2001 at Y a H oo What are my options to be able to use the new Cluster. Thanks for any input in advance...............Freddie_g2001 at YAH OO dot Com[/B]

Wilkommen to the forums!
I'm not entirely sure, but I believe that you will have to have your new cluster coded to your vehicle. This can only be done at the dealership. your other alternative is to send your old cluster to modulemaster and have them rebuild it for you ($150)
good luck

Wanted to say thanks to all for the input.
I was hoping someone would have the magic answer that was less costly....after spending over 200 for the new cluster and now gotta go to the dealer to pay another 150 to have it programmed. Is it because of the Odometer mileage not matching?
On the one that was in the car, all the lights work perfectly except for the odometer is not lit up........Any easy way to fix that light? If anyone knows, please pass it on......thanks again to all.......freddie_g2001......ft sill, Oklahoma

its not just the od that needs programmed, immobilizer, radio functionality, and mil readiness is just a few reasons, my cluster lcd is shot, modulemaster is when im gonna send it when i have a week were i dont need it. 350 in total for a new cluster is not a bad gig when i new one from a dealer is over 1000gs!!!!!

A6KRUT, Thanks.
Yes, I agree. Wish there was a way to change out the odometer light myself because all other lights work on my cluster. Unfortunately, I'm in a small town and there are no Audi Dealers within 100 miles. I have been using my External GPS to track my mileage but overall, I can't complain.....I'm getting almost 28 miles per gallon........Not bad at all for a 2003 A6! Thanks for all the input. freddie_g2001
