Thumbs down replacing cooling fan, help?

first i had a noise coming out of my front passenger side cooling fan, so then i took apart the front end, the shaft of the motor ( fan motor ) is loose causing vibration and noise, the motor is directly wired on both ends from the fan motor to the relay box ( i assume ) , have any of you spliced the wires to replace the motor or what is the procedure, any suggestions?
as looking to replace the fan motor so does anyone know where i would go to buy that
thanks
by the way i own a 2002 audi a6 3.0 quattro

In all the honesty, I never replaced a radiator fan. I like to break down stuff in components (when I have a chance or need) to see how it works, but I never dealt with a fan.
Some of the guys who replaced one may be able to give you a little guidance.

However, I would think you should be able to follow its wiring and see how and where exactly it gets powered.
In addition, if you have a spare car, you should be able to take it out, dismantle it and see if it just needs lubrication - before spending the money on a new one. I have no idea if it is bearing- based or else.
