Arrow Replacing the PCV w/ a Catch can (4.2l)

A few months ago I had a pretty bad leak from my right valve cover gasket. The gaskets were replaced less than a year ago and several people agreed it was probably a stuck pcv. I replaced the valve with a used one and it was fine for several months. The leak is back now and Im considering ditching the pcv for an oil catch can. Has anyone here done this? Is there any reason why i shouldnt? As far as I can tell there is no downside besides the need to clean it occasionally and watch for water buildup in cold weather.

Any insight would be appreciated.
